Portions of JulieMae's Application
My name is JulieMae. I am 34 years old and a single mother of 5 children, 4 that live with me. My children ages are 10, twin 7 year olds and 2. I recently experienced an unplanned pregnancy and chose adoption for my baby boy. I placed him with a family that could provide for his needs. I have an open adoption with them. I am the first person in my family to go to college. I was raised by my grandmother on the reservation. My mother died of alcoholism and my father currently lives with me. I take care of him because he is a severe diabetic, taking insulin daily. I also have Type 2 diabetes.
Currently and for the past 10 years I have been working in housekeeping. This has been a hard job but has helped me support myself, my children and my dad. Prior to that I worked as a CNA. I enjoyed working in the medical field. I am excited to start learning more about the medical field while going to school to become a medical assistant.
I have worked very hard throughout my life and want to have a career that is going to make a difference for people and help me and my family. I am excited to be the first person in my family to get a degree, my dad is very excited for me too. It is very difficult to get a good paying job in my area without some kind of degree. I plan to get a job working as a medical assistant in the area where I live. I have proven my strong work ethic by providing for my children for the past 10 years. I am now willing to use my hard working abilities to get a degree.
Congratulations JulieMae!!! We wish you all the best!
