I may not have been a co-founder of All About U Adoptions but I can say I have been a part of the agency since the very beginning. In the 6th grade, my family and consumer science teacher, Coleen, asked me to babysit for her. When Coleen and another adoptive mom decided to start their own agency, they wanted to make sure they still had time with their own families. So, as they traveled the state spreading their vision, I was right there with them taking care of the kids while they worked.
In college, I worked for the agency full-time during the summer. I was able to see the ups and downs of adoption, social work, and the faces of parents whose lives were changed because of this beautiful process. I was “hooked” on adoption and hope to make this a part of my life someday.
Coleen has inspired me in my career choice as well. Currently, I work full-time as a family and consumer science teacher in Omaha, NE and part time for All About U Adoptions. I do my best to help change our culture’s view of adoption by teaching my high school students the importance of healthy families and considering adoption as a selfless positive option.
