All About U Adoptions is a multi-state, licensed child-placing agency. We are a private, 501(C)3 non-profit organization.

Coleen married her high school sweetheart, Rob. They became parents through adoption of two children. Having gone through the process of adopting and raising their children, Coleen and Rob learned that the adoption process could be fraught with complications and emotional struggles, and that challenges do not stop once an adoption finalizes. Adoptive parenting comes with a separate set of challenges than parenting biological children. Being passionate about children and families, Coleen and Rob became involved in PAC, (Parents of Adopted Children), a support group for adoptive families.

While leading PAC, it became clear. Coleen had the experience and passion to form an adoption agency focused on support of birth families and adoptive families. She also wanted to provide resources through the lifelong challenges of adoption.

Turning the All About U Adoptions dream into a reality did not happen overnight. It too, just like the adoption process, was a rollercoaster. It had been decades since the state of South Dakota had licensed a new agency. However, after two years of persistence, and with many supporters, All About U Adoptions was born in March 2006. Coleen shares, “I was happily a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher for 16 years after graduating from South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD.  I didn’t really “decide” to make adoption a career path. The adoption path CHOSE me.”

All About U Adoptions grew using grassroots face-to-face efforts, as well as loads of time and determination. In the early years, Coleen would travel across the state with her children and a babysitter in the car; stopping to talk to any doctor, church or anyone that would listen, about adoption and their approach to helping all members of the adoption triad. During this time, a close family member of Coleen’s had an unplanned pregnancy.  It was while supporting her family member through that journey that Coleen found the compelling and natural love for working with birth parents and assuring that all members of the adoption triad were respected, heard and honored.

Today, All About U Adoptions is licensed in South Dakota, North Dakota, and Nebraska. We made the choice to become licensed in North Dakota because there was a significant need in the western part of North Dakota for adoption services. All About U Adoptions saw a need to serve families and felt compelled to help them.

Geographically speaking, it made sense to expand our services to Nebraska. All About U Adoptions is a proud member of the Nebraska Adoption Agency Association (NAAA), a networking group to support ethics of adoption in the state. Through this partnership, we continue to collaborate, provide post adoption support, and seek opportunities for our families. Nebraska has been a seamless addition to our licensed states.

Since 2006, our team has grown to include caring professionals who share the All About U Adoptions passion for providing compassionate support and empowerment to all involved in the adoption process. Today we average 25-30 adoptions per year. All About U Adoptions has placed more than 330 children in adoptive family homes since January 2007. For us, it’s not about being the agency with the highest number of adoptions per year. It’s about providing the resources, empathy, ethics and education to ensure a quality life for the adopted child, as well as birth and adoptive families.
